Celeb Stars, Superstars, Unclothed Stars
and The Gala

Now that those cowboys have ridden their way back to Oklahomo leaving a trail of dust (and broken hearts), Week Two is underway, complete with the Twisted Drama and Plastic Passion we brought you news of last week.

Already, the paparazzi are planted outside The New Theatre wanting a glimpse of the string of high profile stars turning out for the world premiere of acclaimed Irish playwright Elizabeth Moynihan's Slaughterhouse Swan, a complex family drama featuring Cepta, newly released from jail after a relationship with her student, Rose.

In this newsletter, we bring you news of the celebrity stars, superstars and unclothed stars of this week's programme, direct you to Smock Alley for quality laughs and tell you about our amazing Gala Celebration and Awards this Sunday.

The Box Office at Filmbase, Curved St, Temple Bar remains open for visitors and enquiries right up until 5pm on Sunday and are still offering special multiple ticket deals.

Well, Hose Me Down

Gracing our stage at Smock Alley this week is one of the long term (and very hot) stars of Law & Order: SVU, Mike Doyle in Water Street. The sexy actor spent six years on the hit show playing forensics cop Ryan O'Halloran before making two gay themed movies; Tides of War and 29th and Gay.

One fire escape. Two martinis. Three twists. Water Street is a romantic comedy that explores the brutal honesty that fuels our bravest and most foolish moments. A must see for anyone who has looked for love in the "wrongest" of places!

All Hail the Divas

We are immensely proud to welcome to Dublin, Barbra & Liza Live; the world's most renowned Streisand and Minnelli impersonators. Is one stage big enough?

Enjoy the gayest affair in show business as two superstars deliver spine-tingling performances of these divas' biggest hits, complete with uncanny imitations, sequins and prolific gossip. This award winning performance is likely to sell out so book now and remember the Saturday matinee at 4pm.

There's a superstar of a different kind in Manny Quinn. Let Logan take you on the funniest musical journey ever featuring 20 classic Eurovision entries. All profits from this show are donated to MarriageEquality's campaign for civil marriage.

Nudity Warning

Three very different plays with one thing in common; poignant plots.

The Myth of Andrew and Jo tells the story of one gay male couple and one lesbian couple whose lives get turned upside down when Jo ends up pregnant by Andrew. Presented by South African company Artscape who brought us last year's 5*****star hit 'Careful', this high camp tale funny tale about down-to-earth coping is not to be missed!

Weepie deals with the biggies - sex and death! A startling blend of the savage and the sublime, it tells the story of two upper class students who commit murder, bewildering the media and public as to their motive. A hard hitting but often hilarious drama.

Naked Homo comes direct from a sell out London run. The award winning Martin Lewton, naked throughout, delivers tales of the adventures and misadventures in gay people's colourful lives.

Laugh Out Loud

"Murder is always a mistake, one should never do anything one cannot talk about after dinner" - Wildean logic and sparkling wit in Lord Arthur Savile's Crimes, 6:45pm at Smock Alley

Meanwhile in the same venue, I'll Tell it Tomorrow sees top Dutch comedian Josh Goossens read hilarious extracts from a diary kept during his years of puberty.

Following both these shows at 8pm in Smock Alley is the European Premiere of two Tennessee Williams plays in one; Tennessee Suite, an erotic and visually stunning production complete with rent boys, hooded heroes and power struggles.

All Good Things Come to an End

Although with Saturday matinees, there is still time to catch the Week Two programme in full, Sunday marks the end of the Festival, boo hoo! ;

However, we are not going out without a bang. The annual Gala Awards and Celebration takes place at The Button Factory at 7.30pm. Featuring selected highlights from festival shows, the Glee Flash Mob, guest performers and the Awards prize giving including People's Choice, this feel good event is ABSOLUTly unmissable, especially with a free goody bag for everyone!
