The ABSOLUT Gay Theatre Festival Dublin aims to develop all concepts of gay theatre by promoting, commissioning and showcasing new writing on gay related theatre and music which in turn will promote the value of arts in our society.
As a unique arts festival, we aim to play a distinctive role in developing a vibrant and sustainable profile on the Dublin theatre scene. Using the skills and experience of our principal Directors and Executive Committee built up over the last six years organising the old International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, we aim to resource and facilitate artistic performance thus aiding artists to realise their artistic ambitions; to train our volunteers in all aspects of theatre including production, technical and administration making it possible for them to extend their experiences of the arts, and finally, to constantly seek exciting, challenging and innovative ways of building new audiences.
The ABSOLUT Gay Theatre Festival Dublin will be centred around the city's Temple Bar area and all participating companies will be provided with free venues, free accommodation for all international artists, at least 65% of the net box office takings, valuable technical and marketing supports - with all companies benefiting from the huge promotional budget guaranteed by our title sponsor ABSOLUT.
The Festival is staffed by professionals on a voluntary basis and would never have got off the ground without the support of countless other volunteers who have freely offered their services, driven by a passion, enthusiasm and commitment to ensure the festival makes a difference on the Irish arts and cultural landscape.
